Social media is a powerful tool for reaching residents and improving their experience in the community. As renters and onsite teams are separated or experiencing minimal contact in 2021, social media is more important than ever in growing your community.
In the inaugural Power Panels webinar, Jennifer brings guest panelists Pascal Coufal, Brittney Nelson, and Brittney Parker in for “Social Media Superstars.”
The first webinar in this new series explores how management teams can best utilize social media to reach residents, boost engagement, and foster a sense of community.

A Place to Stay
Staying in touch has never been easier than it is today. Management can reach residents within seconds, improving feedback and response rates. With email, texting, and phone calls leading the way, what does management even need social media for?
According to a SatisFacts survey, only 0.99% of surveyed residents prefer being contacted via social media. It may be surprising to some to hear this; after all, many people seem to constantly engage on social media platforms. So, what’s the best way to use social media if not for contacting your residents?
Each panelist in this episode stressed the importance of using social media as a tool to engage with residents. Showing residents images of events or perks such as food truck days can demonstrate what management is doing to keep residents happy.
Despite the need to be socially distant, renters are still looking for connection to their neighbors and community staff. Engaging with residents can improve their sense of community and make them feel like management cares about more than just collecting rent.
Social media provides a unique opportunity to create a space to display a community and build engagement with residents. Prospects get a peek into what it would be like if they were to choose to live in the community. Social media can be the missing link between management and residents, so it’s up to you build a sense of community and create a space for them to feel included.

Interact and Engage
Growing your social media presence isn’t just about your community posts. One of the most important aspects of boosting your profile is engagement. Residents want to see the community team involved in online renter conversations. This interaction brings life into the community as well as shows residents the management team cares.
Think about comments and sharing. Much like responding to renter reviews, the more you respond to others’ social comments, the more your residents will see your engagement and feel heard. Avoid being generic and branch out to interacting with people that matter. Share local businesses and you’ll earn your residents’ respect and trust!
Connections Make Communities
In a time where nothing is certain & being social is difficult, creating a sense of community is harder than ever. How management and onsite teams handle this is crucial. Social media presents a unique opportunity to remain social even while distant, and can work to keep residents. With social media, you can ensure that your community is a place where people want to live, even amidst a global pandemic.
