Solving Pandemic Problems
Predicting anything in 2020 feels impossible. With shutdowns, cautious openings, and more shutdowns, businesses and consumers are left scrambling.
Thankfully, you don’t have to resort to a crystal ball. Lia and Jennifer are here with their Onsite Insites LIVE! webinar series, “Pandemic Predictions”.
In “Comfort Crushers,” the first session in the 3-part series, Lia and Jennifer explore what management teams can do to ensure renters are comfortable in their homes, especially when so many are working and schooling remotely.

Enjoy Your Stay (As Long As It Takes)
But what exactly is “comfort”? According to the research Lia and Jennifer review during the webinar, the most important factors relate to how renters are handling self-isolation during the pandemic. With nowhere to go, a renter’s experience is infinitely more important. Small inconveniences have become aggravating as people are unable to freely go out and take a break from apartment living.
If you want to keep residents engaged, consider surprising them! Like any relationship, the one you have with your renters can get stale quickly if you don’t work to keep it feeling like a source of positivity. The more your residents engage, the more opportunities you have to prove yourself as a good listener and someone who delivers on expectations.
Communication during this time is directly linked to renewal intent. Every day a resident doesn’t hear back from management feels like a week (like most things in lockdown.) Residents want to be heard, and there is no better way to demonstrate appreciation than publicly thanking residents for their feedback—good or bad—and establishing that you are listening.
Send out surveys and see what your residents are most interested in: did they love the community virtual bingo night you organized? Were they less than impressed by your holiday greeting cards? Keeping a finger on the pulse of your community creates a welcoming environment where residents feel like they can speak and be heard without fear of retaliation.

Comfort is Cooperation
Above all, don’t forget that everyone is alone together.
The most universal experience we are experiencing is the pandemic. Know that your residents need to feel comfortable in and outside of their homes; and respect that you are one of the forces in their lives that can make isolation feel less like an major ordeal and more like a minor obstacle that they can overcome.
